Missions and Outreach

The Church of the Nazarene worldwide believes in the value of missions.  We here at Bend Nazarene agree.  We want to reach the world with the Message of Jesus Christ.  Here are a few ways that you can get involved:

  • ORPAC NMI CELEBRATION
  • Read Around the World
  • Faith Promise
To support the World Evangelism Fund and local missions at Bend Church of the Nazarene, we support Faith Promise giving. Our goal for the year is $45,000. Total pledges so far through February 2011 are $42,800. People can also give at Easter and Thanksgiving to support WEF.
  • Work & Witness
Our church sends short-term teams to work on projects in the United States as well as around the world. A team went to Belize in March of 2009 where they worked on an elementary school. We are hoping to send a team to Ecuador spring 2012.
  • Sun Valley Indian School
The Sun Valley Indian School is located in Holbrook, Arizona. It is a boarding school for Native Americans and has been educating children for 45 years. We help here at our church by saving Campbell Soup Labels for them. They have used labels saved from all over North America to buy 17 passenger vans, computers and athletic equipment. If you are interested in helping, save the UPC code and Labels for Education Logo from approved products. For a list of these and more information about the school, go to their web site: www.indianschool.org Cans are available on the book card and in the gym for your labels.
  • Alabaster Fund-Raising

These "love gifts" are transformed into buildings and property sites around the world. Alabaster boxes are available at the missions bookcase for you to use. Alabaster offerings are received in September and February.

  • Missionary Speakers

Mark your calendars for this “won’t want to miss it” event!  Jon and Shirley Fischer

After graduating from Mid-America Nazarene College, Jon and Shirley found themselves settling into normal suburban life - Jon working as an accountant at a dry wall company and Shirley teaching school. Then Jon went on a Work and Witness trip and God started talking to him about missions.  Through this trip God showed Jon that he not only wanted his money for missions from him but he also wanted his time and family to be involved. So they "stepped out on faith".

They volunteered as Missionaries in Volunteer Service for what they thought would be one year, but God had other plans.

They have two daughters which were and still are a vital part of their ministry.

“Some of the happiest times of our lives were during those eight years of volunteering. There were tough times, but they were times full of learning and growing in faith. We didn't know where the money to live on was going to come from or when it was going to come, but it always came. We could truly see the hand of God at work, and we still see his protecting hand over us”

They will present their story to us Monday, Sept. 12 at 7 pm in the Fireside Room.
